Paul B. Zimmerman opened his modest 40′ x 60′ farm repair shop in 1947. His reputation quickly grew and he expanded his shop several times in the ’50s and ’60s. His welding and repair shop also became a parts store. As he bought his parts in bulk, neighbors began stopping by to purchase items.
His six sons grew and took increasingly larger roles in the business. The parts area expanded to a separate hardware store that eventually moved a mile down the road and became PaulB Hardware. In 1986 a new powder coating plant was built to coat the steel agricultural machinery they were fabricating, and that became Keystone Koating.
The same resourcefulness that Paul brought to fixing equipment for nearby farmers is in the DNA of PBZ manufacturing.
The “shop,” as it is still known, grew into PBZ manufacturing, a full service metal manufacturing company that specializes in OEM, job shop, project and contract manufacturing. PBZ uses modern machinery, including structural 3D (tube laser), and flatbed 2D laser cutting, tube bending, MIG & TIG welding, and powder coating.
